Because the locks operate within the PDK ecosystem, installers don’t have to rely on external software or integrations, allowing integrators to maintain a consistent experience across the system.
The locksets were designed with the ultimate flexibility in mind. Different doors require different types of hardware, and PDK provides multiple options to fit common use cases—the Red Cylindrical Lock and the Red Deadbolt. “Having a couple of different options in our lock lineup allows customers to get the kind of lock that will fit their needs,” explains Loren Bryner, Director of Product Management at ProdataKey. “Some doors are perfect for a cylindrical lock, like office doors or storage room doors. And then the deadbolts are great for places like apartments or other residential doors.” Together, these options give integrators the flexibility to secure a wider range of doors while keeping everything within the same ProdataKey system.
Intuitive Wireless Connection
At the center of the Red Wireless Locksets ecosystem is the Red Hub, which acts as the bridge between the locks and PDK.io—ProdataKey’s award-winning management software. Loren explains the connection process: “The Hub will connect over Ethernet into the same network that the Cloud Node is on, and then it will be discovered and communicate directly to the Cloud Node.
From there, the locks talk wirelessly to the Red Hub through our proprietary HubNet communication, and they have a range of up to 100 feet line of sight.” This architecture allows installers to place the Hub wherever it best supports the doors while still maintaining a reliable connection to the network and the broader PDK system.
Transforming Residential Security
The Red Wireless Locksets open countless new possibilities in the multifamily housing market. Because the locks support the same credentials used across other PDK devices, users can access multiple doors throughout a residential facility with a single credential. “When you combine these wireless locks with a Red Reader, for example, you can use the same credentials across all the doors. No need to have a fob for a common room or clubhouse and then a separate key for the apartment door,” Loren explains. “The locks really just make security seamless across the property.”
For dealers and integrators, the scalability that the locksets introduce is a significant benefit. Loren notes that Red Wireless Locksets will dramatically expand the number of possible access-controlled doors in a property. “These locks will allow our dealers to have a better experience when they’re in the multifamily market, where they can go in and take a system that has five or six perimeter doors today, and tomorrow it could have 150.”

Ease of installation and configuration was a major priority during development. PDK designed the Red Wireless Locksets to integrate into the system using the same discovery process as other PDK hardware. “One of the key things that we really emphasized in the development was making this a super easy lock to get installed and enrolled in our system,” Loren explains.
The setup process is intentionally straightforward: installers run discovery, find the lock, name it, and add it to the system. “It’s a very streamlined, straightforward process,” Loren says. “It’s important for installers to save time on the job. And by making setup super easy, it helps save time and makes it more accurate.”
To ensure reliability, PDK conducted extensive real-world beta testing before launch. “We specifically had our beta testers install them on doors that were being used every day in their offices,” Bryner says. “And we got great, useful feedback!” With fast installation, intuitive configuration, and real-world testing behind it, the Red Wireless Lockset lineup was built to make life easier for installers while delivering dependable performance for customers.
